Aims
At the end of the lecture, students should have a comprehensive knowledge of complex networks and their appliation to the analysis of dynamical systems. We both present established methods as well as state-of-the-art research results.
Requirements
Generally, prior knowledge of "Statistical Physics" and "Nonlinear Dynamics" is helpful, however, important aspects are recapitulated in the lecture.
Structure / topics / contents
Recap: Dynamical Systems and Bifurcations
Foundations and Structural Properties of Complex Networks (symmetries, measures, small-world)
Functional Networks: The climate as a network
Dynamics of networks: Percolation
Dynamics on networks: Opinion formation, Synchronisation
Stochasticity on Networks: Renewable Energies and sustainable Power grids.
Network Control
