- DE
- aims
- - Preparation and presentation of an intelligible scientific talk
- Insights into the basic theoretical tools and concepts of the continuum modeling of soft materials and fluids, in particular, their deformations, viscoelasitcity, flow, hydrodynamic modes and interactions.
- requirements
- Basic knowledge in Statistical Mechanics
- structure / topics / contents
- In this seminar the student shall prepare and present a pedagogical talk (ca. 1h) on a selected topic in the realm of continuum and fluid mechanics. Possible topics are: mathematical prerequisites, tensors, continuum kinematics, stress, viscoelasticity, fluid flow, Navier-Stokes equation, hydrodynamic modes and interactions, and selected examples from recent publications
